*All Members,
*Respected family members of this great holy Nation.

The question of how to live the values of life is not a new one faced only in modern times. It is as old as our scriptures. This is a weakness that every person faces in his life - the contradiction between his knowledge and his living.

**VERY IMPORTANT FOR THE PRESENT DAY PARENTS : - to direct their children - Follow Sincerely :

Your child is not different from you and you are not different from your child. Therefore, what you are, your child will be. Now you have to decide what you want yourself to be and your child to be, because the choice is yours.

*** VERY IMPORTANT FOR THE PRESENT DAY TEACHERS :- to direct your students

A spiritual teacher plays a significant and indelible role in the life of a human being. If you are privileged enough to have such a teacher, you are assured of success in all spheres – worldly and spiritual.

Listen to Swami Sivananda :

9. IS THERE A CURE?

Yes, provided the motivation to give up is strong enough. Giving up the drug is easy but staying away needs tremendous will power. And medication alone is not enough. It must be combined with love, understanding, patience and prayer. Please bear in mind, no addict can be forced (physically or emotionally) to give up his drugs. Force only catalyses disaster. You should consult a psychotherapist/psychiatrist. He would resort to psychotherapy as a follow-up measure extending about 4-6 months.

Narcotics anonymous gives good scope for group therapy. Cure is not possible without parental participation and faith in God. Mere hospitalisation is not the answer. Religion therapy and family therapy provide the best results. Please do not force the child into a hospital. It can do more harm than good.

10. TYPES OF MEDICAL TREATMENT

Motivation.

Detoxification (withdrawal of drugs).

Supportive psychotherapy counselling by experts.

Family therapy, group therapy and religion therapy.

Rehabilitation facilitated through narcotics Anonymous Group, halfway homes or live in centres.

Day Care Centres.

The said truth about Drug Addiction:-Every recovered drug addict is just one trip away from his former self. Just one 'trip' and he will relapse.

11. DRUG AWARENESS AT COMMUNITY LEVEL

At college campus celebrations organisers should ensure that freedom is not misused.

Indulgence in addictive drinks/drugs during festivals should be avoided. It can easily make an ex-addict revert back to drugs.

Teachers in schools should allocate a certain period in a week for talking to students on the hazards of Drug Addiction.

Posters and messages in Society Notice Boards of residential buildings can be effective.

Organise Work-shop sessions in your neighbourhood with the help of Narcotherapists / psychotherapists / social workers.

Law enforcing agents at all levels should be committed and more vigilant.

12. INDIA NEEDS STRONG, DRUG FREE YOUTH

More than ever before, India's future depends on the strength and dynamism of its youth. In a fast-changing world accelerated by new advances in electronic technology only a dynamic exuberant generation can put India on a strong footing. Save youth from drugs, save India.

13. HIGH MORALS AND BETTER INDIAN CULTURE CAN HELP FIGHT DRUGS.

A strong religious base combined with strong family ties and high morals can help wrench out this evil from our society. Both, preventive and Rehabilitation procedures depend strong.

THE END.

Note :-

Practical application of the values explained in the Bhagwad Gita in our daily lives can be very rewarding.  When knowledge sinks in and is really absorbed, then it automatically comes into play in our life. There is no gap between knowledge and its practical application.

When knowledge is comprehended intellectually, but not assimilated or internalized,  then this contradiction becomes evident — I know something,  but do not know how to apply it to my life.

The Bhagwad Gita teaches us how to live with things, beings and experiences that we come across in our daily life. If we really understand what is taught,  we will be able to use it.
Knowledge is meant for practical use.  If it is not used, then such knowledge is useless for us.

It is said in the Gita: "Jnatva sastravidhanoktam karma kartumiharhasi" —

‘Having understood what is stated in the scriptures,  act accordingly. ’

The sentence appears simple; let us see its implications. All of us suffer in life at some time or other. There are many reasons for this, but one key factor is our thoughtless action. All of us know it.  The flip side of it is action less thought,  when thought is there,  but no follow up in action.
