Respected family members of this great holy Nation.
Part-4.
4.1
In Tamil Nadu with the emergence of Periyar, who had an all-encompassing vision for and commitment to the Dalits and women as well as a mass base among the majority non-Brahman castes.
Yet, the strength of the Tamil movement was also its weakness. As no leader like Ambedkar emerged, the Dalit part of the overall movement remained weak.
4.2
The question still remains: once autonomy, self-respect and some empowerment are achieved for the most downtrodden, how will the movement go forward to seek a wider unity and the annihilation of caste?
Here it is necessary to consider and reconsider the answer given by Periyar and the Tamil non-Brahman movement generally: that the way forward is through a kind of national liberation, a recognition of a positive alternative community which was taken to be a "Dravidian'' identity or a "Tamil'' national identity.
4.3
Though caste system is not there in surname but still caste do exist, still kangaroo Panchayat(honour killing) have dominance in internal matters of villages, movement spread was limited to TN, caste system became a bit more complex, strong regionalist feeling grew but the legacy which it has given rational attitude to all sets of people, now no one feels inferior, everyone is empowered in a sense, state don’t discriminate on the basis of religion, respect for women, hindi language, heritage, society has become more egalitarian.
4.4.
In reality, the Aryan and Dravidian ideas are the Creation of British, an arrangement to divide the people and rule this country.
Periyar movement initiated separatist mentality among the people of Tamilnadu, and the reality, Upanishadic culture and Sanatana Dharma, is the base of Bharatham.
Here the caste system is man made, political parties take advantage of this.
