Respected family members of this great holy Nation.
Sub : 1. Internet connection speed and data usage of Bharatham, 2. Why speed of Internet is faster in USA than developing country Bharatham?
Ref : Media reports- PUBLIC SECTOR TELECOM COMPANY, BSNL REDUCING 7% OF EMPLOYEES BY NEXT FINANCIAL YEAR !!!
1. Bharatham is mostly using technologies like DSL whereas USA has moved on to use Cable & Fiber Optics which provides way better speed. FUP data cap in India is too low compare to USA.
2. It is very sad to see that Bharatham being the 3rd largest country in terms of Internet users is still ranked way below the average in terms of the average Internet speed per user. India has 243 million internet user base and the average speed here is just 2Mb/s.
3. Many of us know that we all need a medium to connect between a bunch of computers and servers across the World Wide Web aka Internet. So it all comes down to these mediums when we talk about speed of communication.
4. These are the potential technologies we use or used -
i. Dial-up (Outdated) -We used this in Ancient times. I used it way back in 2001-02 when I first accessed the Internet. Way to slow these days. It is commonly known as 56k which is it's max speed. BSNL is still providing this in some cities. Link here.
ii. DSL (Commonly used in India) - You have a broadband connection and are accessing it with your telephonic line then you are using a DSL connection. Almost all BSNL broadband users use this technology and they curse BSNL daily. Speed - 1.5 Mbps to 10 Mbps.
iii. Cable (Used in big organization/colleges/universities) - These cable is separate from telephonic lines over which DSL operates. These cables are not available to a common home users. ISP provide dedicated lines to big companies and colleges in India. That is why I enjoy 50Mbps speed in my college. Speed - 250 Mbps.
iv. Fibre Optics (Used in USA) - Fiber optics provides speed upto 1Gbps but India is still planning to construct this network infrastructure across all cities. I think it would take some 3-5 years to finally get hands on this this technology.
5. Now we will be thinking What about mobile internet tech. like 3G and 4G LTE . They are super fast why can't we use those ?
6. Of Course we can use them and they are super fast. But there are some problems with those too.
7. We are still in the growing phase. LTE is only being provided by Airtel and in only a handful cities. It is expensive and there are only a handful devices which uses it
8. One of the reason people hate Indian ISP is because of this Fair Usage Policy. It states that even though you may subscribe to an unlimited broadband plan say for example 512 kbps unlimited per month, and if your usage is very high and crosses a certain cap as decided by the broadband provider your connection speed will then be reduced to 256 kbps for the remaining month.
9. So what you all see as Unlimited 3G for a month ads in newspaper and TV is all BS. Every ISP has a Fair-Usage policy.
10. The limited usage policy or fair usage policy (FUP) was first implemented by Airtel and Tata Teleservices to prevent users for exploiting their internet connection speeds and downloading illegal materials from the internet.
11. The FUP has since not been removed and with no pressure from TRAI (Telecom Regulatory Authority of India) this antiquated method continues to haunt each user.
12. There is no such thing as FUP in USA but they do have data limits for users which are usually very high upto 300-500GB per month.
13. India and Indians deserve the ability to get unlimited internet, the users seem to be paying for it, but nobody seems to be getting it. Riddled by hidden corporate talk and contracts that fool the customers into believing that they are getting the best possible deal. Everybody has the right to stay connected, and a fast internet connection is more like a lifeline today

**WHERE AS -
1. The largest telecom company of BHARTI AIRTEL has only 20,000 employees;
2. Second largest company VODAFONE has only 13000 employees;
***EXPENDITURE BY SALARY OF EMPLOYEES-
1. BSNL spends 50% of its income! BSNL FINANCIAL YEAR 2014-15 TOTAL LOSS = 8234 CRORES OF RUPEES
2. whereas Bharti Airtel, Vodafone, Idea cellular are spending by salary of employees - only 5% to 6% of their income. AND THESE COMPANIES ARE IN PROFIT
MY VIEWS
1. ONCE UPON A TIME - BSNL LIKE LIC WERE MONOPOLY IN THEIR RESPECTIVE SECTORS;
2. THESE TWO PUBLIC SECTOR COMPANIES WERE NOT FUNCTIONING IN THE RIGHT WAY SINCE VERY LONG, CONSUMERS ARE NOT LOOKED AFTER AS REQUIRED;
3. THE NEW PRIVATE SECTOR COMPANIES OVERTOOK BSNL IN VERY SHORT PERIOD, AND SERVING BETTER THAN BSNL, PROVIDING 100% CUSTOMER CARE ;
4. WARNING BELL RINGING,TO BSNL AWAKE FROM ITS SLUMBER, IT IS GOOD FOR THEM OR FATE OF CLOSURE AWAITING SOON.
