Sub : Bulandshahr gangrape: Accused planned crime for days, drank for hours before
Ref : The group used Kithore in Meerut district as their ‘base’, Meerut Zone Inspector General Sujeet Pandey told mediapersons Tuesday.
The seven men accused of raping a woman and her 14-year-old daughter in Bulandshahr allegedly planned the crime days in advance, even conducting a reconnaissance of the incident site.
The group used Kithore in Meerut district as their ‘base’, Meerut Zone Inspector General Sujeet Pandey told mediapersons Tuesday.The accused sought help from a local, identified as Rayeesuddin, said police.
Rayeesuddin, along with two other accused — Sabir and Jabbar Singh — was arrested from Wair railway station on July 31. Three of the seven accused —\
Salim, the ‘chief’ of Bawaria gang and alleged mastermind of the incident, Zubair and Sajid — were arrested Monday evening.
According to police, Salim, Zubair and Sajid have been identified by two of the six victims. Police are on the lookout for the seventh accused, Sathi.
Salim and his associates were arrested after police tracked them down by intercepting phone conversations of the accused and acting on inputs by local informers. In one such phone conversation, one accused was heard telling the other to flee, said Pandey.
On the day of the incident, the IG said, “They bought alcohol. They were at the liquor shop in Bhoor (in Bulandshahr)… they claim they sat at a secluded spot and drank alcohol… they said they left that spot at around 11.30 pm and… went to the incident spot… the incident took place at 1.15 am.”
“At the accused’s hide-out, we found clothes, two torches, two axes, a pair of gold earrings, a silver anklet, gold nose-pins, and cash worth Rs 12,000,” said Pandey. The items have been sent for forensic examination.
“At the crime spot, we had found sand. We found it on jeans and other garments recovered from the accused as well. It is important that the two samples match. We have recovered hair strands from their clothes… it is important to connect this forensically… the manual work on the ground was aided by electronic evidence,” he added
My View
1. Police is doing good job;
2. But prevention is lacking in Bharatham;
3. Let us Hope for our citizens have good character above all material advancements!
