Wise Schooling With Enlightened Masters : 2.
Swami Tejomayananda

Such sadhgurus show us the way to reach the goal of human birth – moksha. They give authenticity to the scriptures. They raise all actions to heights of divinity; they demonstrate that no karma, in itself, is great or small; it is the motive and attitude behind our actions that makes it so.

There are different types of people who approach a guru. A bhakti, devotee, has love, reverence and devotion. But, all devotees do not become sishyas, disciples.  They love, respect, and revere the guru, but they do wish to learn Vedanta from him.

There are others who listen, become inspired and offer to volunteer their time as sevak. Service blossoms into devotion – the sevak becomes a bhakta.  In due time, the bhakta transforms into student and disciple – he desires to study Vedanta full time.

When a person becomes all three – a devotee steeped in bhatki yoga; a sevak performing selfless actions, karma yoga and finally a sishya immersed in Vedantic study, jnana yoga – he reaches the ultimate goal; his journey is complete.

A guru’s greatness,  is not only in entrusting the right person to the right job, but, in also, being able to encourage and inspire those who lack adequate capability, enabling them to produce incredible results.

Personally, i have had the good fortune to meet quite a few great mahatmas, but the greatest blessing has been to be with, to live with, serve and learn from one such realised Master – Pujya Gurudev Swami Chinmayananda.

THE END

Note :-

Practical application of the values explained in the Bhagwad Gita in our daily lives can be very rewarding.  When knowledge sinks in and is really absorbed, then it automatically comes into play in our life. There is no gap between knowledge and its practical application.

When knowledge is comprehended intellectually, but not assimilated or internalised,  then this contradiction becomes evident — I know something,  but do not know how to apply it to my life.

The Bhagwad Gita teaches us how to live with things, beings and experiences that we come across in our daily life. If we really understand what is taught,  we will be able to use it.
Knowledge is meant for practical use.  If it is not used, then such knowledge is useless for us.

It is said in the Gita: "Jnatva sastravidhanoktam karma kartumiharhasi" —

‘Having understood what is stated in the scriptures,  act accordingly. ’

The sentence appears simple; let us see its implications. All of us suffer in life at some time or other. There are many reasons for this, but one key factor is our thoughtless action. All of us know it.  The flip side of it is actionless thought,  when thought is there,  but no follow up in action.

OPINION :-

1. In Kerala, communists and Congress student unions with political support almost degraded the Teacher-Student relationship;

2. Today children have no "Guruthvam" which is highly regarded in Bharatham since ancient days, now parents aw well as students do not know the meaning of " Guruthvam"!

3. Literates, media, and the so called maths simply keep away from this delicate subject;

4. Money is regarded as divine in kerala with politics, to protect themselves from the laws of the land;

5. So for many education means not knowledge, but a sheet of paper, known as degree, graduation, post graduation, PhD and so on, these things are available in the market for money, so where is the need for education, then the question " knowledge" How much a kilo?
