Wise Schooling With Enlightened Masters :
Swami Tejomayananda

A spiritual teacher plays a significant and indelible role in the life of a human being. If you are privileged enough to have such a teacher, you are assured of success in all spheres – worldly and spiritual.

It is said ‘mahat sangha tu durlabho agamyo amoghas cha’– it is extremely rare and difficult to gain the association or company of spiritual people; and even if we come into their orbit, it may not be possible to recognise their greatness and stature.  Often, even a person living with such exalted masters, is not aware of their glory.

But one thing is definitely certain: whether one recognises their greatness or not, the influence of such a mahatma is amogha, infallible; to come into contact with such a person, and not be affected, is against the law of nature – it is just not possible. Whether you come in close contact or hear such a mahatma from afar, his influence is unfailing. Perhaps, immediately there may be no visible change, but one can be absolutely sure that, sooner or later, there will be a discernible influence in the life of that person.

Presently, we are living in utter ignorance of our true nature, of the relationship between the individual, the world and the Creator of both. This ignorance creates wrong notions whereby we misinterpret the world, commit various mistakes and consequently suffer from anguish and unhappiness.

Great masters lead us out of the darkness of ignorance into the sunlit field of knowledge; they transform our vision. We start studying the scriptures and discover that there is an Absolute Reality; we understand that God exists.  Then, we become acquainted with the characteristics of an enlightened person. We cannot really appreciate the exalted character of such a person unless and until we are fortunate enough to meet such a master and observe his nature at close quarters.

To be continued ..

Note :-

Practical application of the values explained in the Bhagwad Gita in our daily lives can be very rewarding.  When knowledge sinks in and is really absorbed, then it automatically comes into play in our life. There is no gap between knowledge and its practical application.

When knowledge is comprehended intellectually, but not assimilated or internalised,  then this contradiction becomes evident — I know something,  but do not know how to apply it to my life.

The Bhagwad Gita teaches us how to live with things, beings and experiences that we come across in our daily life. If we really understand what is taught,  we will be able to use it.
Knowledge is meant for practical use.  If it is not used, then such knowledge is useless for us.

It is said in the Gita: "Jnatva sastravidhanoktam karma kartumiharhasi" —

‘Having understood what is stated in the scriptures,  act accordingly. ’

The sentence appears simple; let us see its implications. All of us suffer in life at some time or other. There are many reasons for this, but one key factor is our thoughtless action. All of us know it.  The flip side of it is actionless thought,  when thought is there,  but no follow up in action.

OPINION :-

1. In Kerala, communists and Congress student unions with political support almost degraded the Teacher-Student relationship;

2. Today children have no "Guruthvam" which is highly regarded in Bharatham since ancient days, now parents aw well as students do not know the meaning of " Guruthvam"!

3. Literates, media, and the so called maths simply keep away from this delicate subject;

4. Money is regarded as divine in kerala with politics, to protect themselves from the laws of the land;

5. So for many education means not knowledge, but a sheet of paper, known as degree, graduation, post graduation, PhD and so on, these things are available in the market for money, so where is the need for education, then the question " knowledge" How much a kilo?

Thank you for reading
