Sub : The wrong / bad ( Socio and economic ) side of the Bharatiya politics :

1. Feudal - culture: increased servility/sycophancy and absolutely no questioning of status quo. It is the reason why Dinosaurs thrive in Indian Politics.

2. Dynasty politics: Over 1/4 of Indian MPs have a previous family connection to politics . This number is one of the highest in the world. The Nehru-Gandhi family has ruled India for most part post-independence.

3. Corruption: Politics has been one of the biggest get-rich schemes in the country for a while, now. While this is not nation specific, the sheer scale of the plunder coupled with its uniquely deep-rooted nature makes it abominable.

4. Not attaching a higher value to the vote: A vote can cost from a few hundred rupees and chicken biriyani to mixer grinders and laptops.

5. Caste politics: THE deal-breaker in most elections across India. For instance, in my home state of Karnataka, B.S. Yeddyurappa (in picture) after much shame and scandal is still gunning for power, because of the Lingayat vote.

6. Lack of inspirational value among educated youth and high entry barriers: Politics is simply not a glamorous job! Sucking up to goons, tolerating lesser intellects, working in rural areas without amenities does not cut it compared to life in the cubicle.

It's nothing like this : -

7. Lack of political and ideological alternate: The Opposition in the House is largely toothless. The right is not right and the left is not left, so to speak.

9. Cynicism and Sarkar Raj Hangover: Even though such powerful reforms as the RTI (Right to Information) have made way, there are hardly any takers. A BBMP (local metropolitan body in Bangalore) official told me that he hardly has 30 cases a month (mostly lawyers who use it as blackmail).

Average voter turnout in India is not even 60%!

10. Lack of a participation democracy: The public engages with politicians only at the time of elections. There are no avenues for discourse or interaction, whatsoever. There are no touch points between elections.

11. Centralized power structure: Especially relevant in my home state, where the Govt at helm has always been in opposition at the Centre. Major budgets are still centrally allocated and there is no grassroots level connect. Even wards and local municipal budgets are haphazardly allocated.


12. Weak and inefficient Election Commission: Still advocates the use of  EVMs, which have been proven to be prone to manipulation. And in most places are bystanders to massive fraud, intimidation,
disenfranchisement, vote-buying, etc.

Note :

1. All States, except few, use the Center to extract maximum undue benefits, by enforcing political pressure under coalition politics in the center;

2. ----------do--------------, disagree in all subjects and Policies of the Center;

3.  ----------do------------, delay the center's projects, by projecting lame excuses;

4. -----------do------------, hide the center's financial benefits from the people, and project as their own to gain political mileage;

5. -----------do-----------, unclean, delay the Clean India program, AND MANY MORE;

My view

1. EMPHASIS ON CHARACTER AMONG POLITICIANS;

2. REMOVAL OF NON-PERFORMING MLA AND MPS;

3. SUSPENSION  FOR ANY INDISCIPLINE IN THE ASSEMBLES And LOK SABHA AND RAJYA SABHA'S PROCEEDINGS;

4. NON-PERFORMER SHOULD NOT GET TICKET FOR THE SECOND TERM - IN ELECTIONS;

5. DYNASTIC  POLITICS ABOLISHED;

6. NOTHING AS GIFTS TO THE CITIZENS, THE PAST TRICK USING MONEY AND MATERIAL BENEFITS SHOULD BE STOPPED;

7. DECAYED AND OVERAGE POLITICIANS SHOULD NOT BE ALLOWED TO  BE THE CANDIDATE  IN THE ELECTIONS;

8. CORRUPTION FORCEFULLY ERADICATED FROM THIS COUNTRY;

9. ALL ECONOMIC OFFICIAL MONEY TRANSACTIONS SHOULD BE THROUGH BANKS ONLY, QUOTING PAN AND ADHAR NO;

10. EXEMPLARY PUNISHMENTS FOR ALL DEFAULTERS, IN ALL CASES (  ECONOMIC, CIVIL, CRIMINAL) OFFENSES.
